Scout's Favourite Recipes: Meaty Pasta

Much like childcare and all the advice that goes with it, there is a wealth of advice and commercially produced food available for puppies. Whilst much of what’s on offer is very good, there is nothing stopping you from making your own puppy food and freezing a batch. Like children, puppies will have likes and dislikes and while no one wants a fussy eater it is well to provide the puppy with a range of tastes so that he doesn’t get stuck on one thing only. Scout’s favourite meals are chicken dinners, tuna pasta, spaghetti bolognese, and lamb with rice. These are all left overs from family meals; mixed in with her kibble she is thriving very well. One of her favourite special recipes created just for her is meaty pasta aka Spaghetti Bolognese:

Scout’s Favourite Recipe:

Spaghetti Bolognese.

Ingredients:

  • 800g frozen beef mince (approx £3)
  • 2 tins chopped tomatoes (£1)
  • Dry spaghetti (80p)
  • 5 teaspoons of brown sugar (approx 20p)

Method:

  1. In a large pan dry fry the mince, draining the fat off as it is cooking
  2. As the mince is frying, put a large pan of water on to boil
  3. Whilst it’s boiling snap the spaghetti into pieces, about 2 centimetres in length
  4. Put the spaghetti pieces into the boiling water, and cook according to the packet instructions
  5. Add the tinned tomatoes to the meat, along with the sugar, stir thoroughly and allow to simmer gently
  6. When the spaghetti is cooked add to the Bolognese mixture
  7. Give the sauce a good stir and simmer gently for a couple of minutes.
  8. Allow to cool
  9. Divide into portion sized amounts for freezing.

Scouts first day out ...

Matthew is once again exasperated at Oliver for something, probably something to do with Scout running towards the camera whilst Michael looks on somewhat amused by his guests antics. First day out - first field - first tick too (Ouch!).

Brave little puppy dog ...

A taste of things to come ./..

I think we need to take our puppy for some dog socialising skills ...
